An heuristic approach for mapping landslide hazard by integrating fuzzy logic with analytic hierarchy process

چکیده
This study presents an integration of fuzzy sets theory with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to model landslide hazard. The approach involves developing expert knowledge from existing landslide datasets which are used for standardizing digital terrain attributes, a pairwise comparison method for the elicitation of attribute weights, and their subsequent aggregation through weighted linear combination (WLC) and ordered weighted average (OWA) function to generate landslide hazard maps. The approach enhances the methodology for modeling landslide hazard in roaded and roadless areas through the derivation of probabilistic maps. The maps can be used as a decision support tool in forest management and planning. A case study from the Clearwater National Forest in central Idaho, USA, illustrates the application of the approach in a practical setting.

Comparison of classic and fuzzy analytic hierarchy processes for mapping the flood hazard of Birjand plain
Flood is one of the most destructive natural hazards which impose vast costs in order to compensate its effects, especially in areas where there are manifestations of human development (such as cities). Urban development, particularly in the margins of rivers, has increased flood damages in recent decades. The aim of this study was to develop flood hazard maps of Birjand plain based on analyses...

Recently, special attention has been paid to artificial groundwater recharge in water resource management in arid and semi-arid regions. Water resources distribution in these regions is extremely uneven, both in spatial and temporal forms and groundwater is the only water resource and is a major constraint on economic and social development. Artificial groundwater recharge is considered an appr...
متن کاملUsing boolean and fuzzy logic combined with analytic hierarchy process for hazardous waste landfill site selection: A case study from Hormozgan province, Iran
Hazardous wastes include numerous kinds of discarded chemicals and other wastes generated from industrial, commercial, and institutional activities. These types of waste present immediate or long-term risks to humans, animals, plants, or the environment and therefore require special handling for safe disposal. Landfills that can accept hazardous wastes are excavated or engineered sites where th...
متن کاملA GIS-based comparative study of the analytic hierarchy process, bivariate statistics and frequency ratio methods for landslide susceptibility mapping in part of the Tehran metropolis, Iran
The high hillsides of the Tehran metropolis are prone to landslides due to the climatic conditions and the geological, geomorphologicalcharacteristics of the region. Therefore, it is vitally important that a landslide susceptibility map of the region be prepared. For thispurpose, thematic layers including landslide inventory, lithology, slope, aspect, curvature, distance to stream, distance to ...
